Hi I'm Alisha!

This is long, I know -- but you should know at least a bit about those entrusted to care for your babies.

I have been caring for pets professionally for over ten years, and over the last few years, I have transitioned into providing pet care full-time. This year, I was able to officially create Leashed Up LLC, which has been such an exciting milestone! Some of my past work experience includes being a veterinary assistant and client service representative in two different veterinary ERs, having been a dependable and trusted walker and sitter for several years, and working in two of Oakland's larger dog daycare & boarding facilities in all departments. I also spent time as an assistant manager at Pet Food Express, where I gained additional knowledge about pet nutrition, supplements, toys, and food sensitivities.

I have lived in the Bay Area for 99% of my life and am very familiar with a lot of fun places to take dogs and the best times of day to take them to each, in case your dogs need a decompression hike or some solo playtime without a lot of external stimuli. I have a lot of experience with small, medium, large, and XL breeds (and cats!) and am happy to work with all dogs regardless of breed or temperament.

I really do enjoy working with and caring for dogs that don't do well in a typical boarding/daycare facility, and those that prefer human interaction over being with other dogs. Not every dog wants dog friends, and that's OKAY! We'll have fun anyway! Safety always comes first -- I very much appreciate it when owners are transparent and thorough when telling me about their pets and their 'quirks'. Please be transparent about any behavioral concerns, including reactivity, resource guarding, or bite history. Knowing these details allows me to create the safest and most comfortable experience possible for everyone. While I am not a certified trainer, I am happy to reinforce training plans and routines established by you and your trainer. If additional support is needed, I would also be happy to recommend trusted local trainers who may be a good fit for your pet's needs.

I currently own a 6-year-old chihuahua x mini poodle mix named August, who I found roaming in Hayward while walking a dog that I was boarding a few years ago (in August, of course — hence his name XD). He's been with me ever since, is my assistant manager, and absolutely LOVES that this is our job.

I also own a 6-year-old Rottweiler named Frida, who originally belonged to a long-time client and close friend. When it became clear that Seattle wasn't the right fit for her after they moved, we decided for her to come live with August and me. She's thriving back in California and has become an important part of the Leashed Up family. We are all so happy to have her back to her normal, happy self! <3

In addition to dogs, I have a red-eared slider named Rambo that I've had for 15 years. She's a co-assistant manager and unofficially in charge of accounting and bookkeeping. Earlier this year, I said goodbye to my 16-year-old Chihuahua, Theodore. He inspired much of my love for dogs and is the little guy with the tongue blep in the Leashed Up logo.

Whether your pet needs a neighborhood walk, overnight care, medication administration, or simply someone who understands their unique personality, I'd love the opportunity to help. Please feel free to reach out with any questions—I look forward to meeting you and your pets!
